SDG 6.3.2
SDG 6.3.2 Preventing water system pollution
1. NCUE’s sewage pipelines and water supply pipelines are installed separately. Following the Taiwan Water Corporation’s principles for installing sewage and water supply pipelines, NCUE lays its sewage pipelines lower than its water supply pipelines, which effectively prevents contamination of the water supply system.
2. NCUE supplies drinking water to faculty and students through 249 public water dispensers installed throughout its campuses: 179 on Jinde Campus and 70 on Shida Campus.
3. NCUE tests the water quality of its dispensers in accordance with the Regulations Governing the Use, Maintenance, and Management of Continuous Drinking Water Supply Fixed Equipment. Each quarter, NCUE commissions a contractor to test one quarter of all its dispensers (distributed across both campuses and all buildings), which is about 60 dispensers (with no dispenser tested twice). The test item is the coliform count. Under the Drinking Water Quality Standards issued by the Ministry of Environment, the maximum limit for coliforms is 6 CFU per 100 mL. All dispensers tested at NCUE met the Drinking Water Quality Standards with a pass rate of 100%. Figures 1–2 show examples of NCUE’s 2025 drinking water test reports. The reports are posted next to each dispenser so that users can review them before use, as shown in Figure 3.
