SDG 6.3.1
SDG 6.3.1 Wastewater treatment
1. Wastewater Treatment Procedures by Campus
1. The wastewater treatment procedures on NCUE’s Jinde and Shida Campuses are as follows:
(1) Jinde Campus:
In accordance with the Waste Disposal Act, NCUE commissions qualified contractors to remove and treat laboratory liquid waste as industrial waste. With the approval of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Changhua County Government, NCUE cancelled the water pollution control permit for Jinde Campus, which is no longer subject to regulatory control. The original wastewater treatment facilities remain in normal operation.
(2) Shida Campus: The wastewater treatment plant mainly treats domestic wastewater.
2. Wastewater Collection, Monitoring, and Compliance
2. All wastewater on NCUE’s campuses is collected through sewer pipes and treated at the campus wastewater treatment plants. It is then discharged through the outlets that NCUE has registered with the regulatory authority. In accordance with the Water Pollution Control Act (Figure 1) (https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=O0040001) and the Water Pollution Control Act Enforcement Rules (Figure 2) (https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=O0040002), NCUE files the water quality test results for raw wastewater and effluent from its wastewater treatment plants twice a year: every July for January–June of that year, and every January for July–December of the previous year.

(3) Figures 4-9 show photos of the sewage treatment plants.
(4) In accordance with the Water Pollution Control Act, NCUE calibrates the effluent water meters of its sewage treatment plants once a year. Figures 10–11 show the effluent water meter calibration report issued by a testing institution accredited by the Ministry of Environment.
(5) In accordance with the Water Pollution Control Act, water quality testing is conducted every six months (as shown in Figures 12-15).
(6) In accordance with the Water Pollution Control Act and Waste Disposal Act, sludge removal and treatment operations are conducted once every 2 years (as shown in Figures 16-19)
3. In 2025, the treatment performance, periodic inspection and reporting records, and all operations of the sewage treatment plants on both campuses passed official reviews and tests, and the plants operated normally.
