SDG 17.2.4 Collaboration for SDG best practice
NCUE actively organizes transnational exchange activities related to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) on campus. Relevant administrative units and faculty members lead students in promoting and implementing sustainable development goal policies across national boundaries through participation in various international cooperative exchange affairs, courses, activities, and workshops. A summary of six transnational exchange activities conducted by Our university in 2023 is as follows:
1. Lee Han-wen, Director of the Office of International Affairs, continued to lead the team in promoting the ASEAN and South Asia Plan: Implementing projects to strengthen national cooperation and exchange with countries such as India, Vietnam, and the Philippines. By leveraging Our university's comparative advantages in teaching and research resources, we aimed to promote substantial transnational exchanges and achieve a vision of mutually beneficial talent cultivation and regional economic development.
The various sub-project actions include:
(1) Providing experiential courses in STEM professional fields and cultural studies for their faculty and students.
(2) Promoting Southeast Asian language and cultural learning programs to foster the cultivation of Taiwanese academic, cultural, and economic talents specializing in ASEAN and South Asian affairs, thereby enhancing mutual talent complementarity and resource sharing.
(3) Organizing international conferences to facilitate experience exchange and academic dialogue among participants, including Southeast Asian scholars.
(4) Actively collaborating with overseas academic institutions to create new paradigms for research in relevant fields.
(5) Cooperating with Taiwanese enterprises to arrange corporate visits, creating industry-academia collaboration opportunities, and nurturing outstanding talents.
(6) Jointly promoting Chinese language learning programs with Southeast Asian universities, providing students with opportunities to learn Chinese and intern, thus achieving mutual benefits in teaching resources.

The seminar, titled "An Overview of Social-Technical Research Issues in Social Robots," delved into the latest developments in gender mainstreaming, gender equality, and gender diversity in advanced countries. It also introduced the culture and environment of Ontario Tech University. The presentation received enthusiastic responses and positive feedback from the attending faculty and students.
Furthermore, with the overall easing of the pandemic situation, the Lukang Dragon Boat Festival International Race was resumed this year after a three-year hiatus. To allow guests to experience local Taiwanese culture, our university's international and overseas Chinese students formed two dragon boat teams. This year's competition was fierce, with 98 teams and approximately 2,500 athletes competing. One of our university's teams bravely secured the second place in the international division.
Tens of thousands of domestic and international spectators enjoyed the thrilling races, with cheers resonating throughout the venue. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the colorful festive decorations along the Fulu River, created a spectacular scene. This event also served as a successful instance of public diplomacy for NCUE!

6. Our new sister institution, Temple University, visited our campus and held an information session on student exchange programs. The programs included opportunities for our undergraduate students to apply for Temple University's DBMD dual degree program during their junior or senior year or after graduation, or for first-year graduate students to apply for the 1+1 dual master's degree program, leading to the attainment of bachelor's and master's degrees or dual master's degrees from both institutions. Most students are exempt from submitting GRE or GMAT scores and may receive scholarships covering partial or even full tuition.
Assistant Vice President Clemons emphasized that their university provided individualized guidance and counseling throughout the application process, curriculum planning, accommodation, internships, and employment opportunities, which is a significant advantage for our students.
