7. Professor Li Tzu-Ying from the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation served as an interpreter at the forum "Embracing Net-Zero Action - Global Industry and Labor Trends International Forum and Industry-Academia Cooperation Project" organized by the Chinese Management Association.
On July 11, the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor held the "Embracing Net-Zero Action - Global Industry and Labor Trends" International Forum in response to the global trend towards net-zero emissions. The forum brought together domestic and international experts and scholars to discuss future trends in net-zero action and share relevant practices and experiences, serving as a reference for mutual learning among countries.
The Workforce Development Agency stated that this forum specially invited Mr. Wim Adriaens, Director-General of the Flemish Employment and Vocational Training Agency (VDAB) of Belgium; Mr. Yves Magnan, Director of Services at the Walloon Employment and Vocational Training Agency (Le Forem) of Belgium; Mr. Somchai Jkareen, President of the Thailand-German Institute (TGI) of the Ministry of Industry of Thailand; as well as speakers from Australia, Japan, and Taiwan. Representatives from the Belgian Office in Taipei and relevant domestic ministries also participated in the exchange.
Focusing on green industry trends and talent cultivation, the forum explored various countries' measures and challenges in achieving net-zero emissions. Notably, VDAB, Le Forem, and TGI have all signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Workforce Development Agency, making them close partners in employment services and vocational training.
During his speech, Tsai Meng-Liang, Director-General of the Workforce Development Agency, stated that in response to the rising demand for human resources driven by the emergence of green industries, they are actively planning for green talent cultivation and providing vocational training assistance to workers. Not only has a "Green Energy Technology Industry Section" been established on the Taiwan Jobs website to provide green energy-related job openings, vocational training courses, and information on relevant government websites to guide people towards green employment, but the agency is also assisting enterprises in conducting employee training. This includes subsidizing part of the training costs and guiding the planning and implementation of on-the-job training related to net-zero, enhancing the professional knowledge of practitioners, as well as developing and updating relevant competency standards and curricula to prepare the required talents for the future and enhance national competitiveness.
The Workforce Development Agency stated that this forum aims to collect countermeasures from various countries regarding the labor market in response to the demands of industrial transformation, and to share the current status and experiences of green industry talent cultivation. This will facilitate international exchange and serve as a reference for Taiwan's future green talent cultivation policies.
