SDG 17.2.2 Cross sectoral dialogue about SDGs
NCUE continues to initiate and participate in cross-sectoral dialogues, workshops, and meetings related to Sustainable Development Goals. This year, we have compiled a list of 13 seminars and conferences held in 2023. The details of each seminar and conference are explained point by point as follows:
1. The College of Education organized "The Education College ‘Forum on Emerging Trends in Education’ Introduction to the Current Status of Rehabilitation Counseling in the United States"
On December 12, 2023, the College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Rehabilitation Counseling of our university jointly hosted the "Forum on Emerging Trends in Education" and "Special Lecture on Teaching Professionalism in Rehabilitation Counseling." Associate Professor Lin Chien-chun from the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling Department at Western Oregon University was specially invited to deliver a lecture on "Introduction to the Current Status of Rehabilitation Counseling in the United States."

2. The College of Education organized "‘Forum on Emerging Trends in Education’ Challenges Faced by Teacher Education in Taiwan and Future Development Directions"
The College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Education of our university jointly held the "Forum on Emerging Trends in Education" This forum aimed to collectively explore foresight issues and trends in education, deeply analyze the challenges faced by teacher education in Taiwan, and discuss future development directions.

3. The College of Education organized "‘Forum on Emerging Trends in Education’ Career Actions and Reflections of a Social Worker with Disabilities"
The College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Rehabilitation Counseling of our university jointly hosted the "Forum on Emerging Trends in Education" and "Special Lecture on Teaching Professionalism in Rehabilitation Counseling." The keynote speaker for this special lecture was Mr. Chien Ming-shan, the director and CEO of a social work office. In his speech, Mr. Chien used his own career as an example, sharing profound insights into his growth journey as a person with disabilities and his experiences in the field of social work.

4. The College of Education organized "‘Forum on Emerging Trends in Education’ The Content and Services of Career Development and Transition"
The College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Rehabilitation Counseling of our university held an Forum on Emerging Trends in Education focusing on "The Content and Services of Career Development and Transition." Dr. David Strauser from the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was specially invited to share his research findings in the field of career development for individuals with disabilities.

5. The College of Education and the Department of Guidance and Counseling organized "Reflecting on the Socio-Cultural Phenomena about WEIRD Psychology: The 5th Indigenous Social Science Conference and The 6th Indigenous Counseling Psychology Conference"
This event was jointly held by Department of Guidance and Counseling, National Sun Yat-sen University, and the Chinese Association of Indigenous Social Sciences. The aim was to usher in a new era of diversification in the indigenization of social sciences through interdisciplinary dialogue and research, deepening new milestones in the development of indigenous social sciences.
The symposium content included:
(a) Reflection on the socio-cultural phenomena about WEIRD Psychology.
(b) Theoretical developments, related empirical research, and practical papers focusing on reflections on Indigenous psychology and social sciences.
This initiative seeks to further the development and understanding of locally relevant psychological and social science perspectives.

6. The College of Education and the Department of Guidance and Counseling organized "The College of Education and Department of Guidance and Counseling Professional Specialty International Symposium—Embodied Life: Counseling Reflections and Guidance Innovations on Career and Body"
This symposium was hosted by the Department of Guidance and Counseling of our university, with co-organization from the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, the College of Education, and the Community Psychological Counseling and Potential Development Center. The symposium focused on two main themes: "Career" and "Body." It aimed to utilize innovative theories and practical technique demonstrations to reflect on and generate new insights into career and body-related aspects of guidance and counseling.

7. The College of Education and the Department of Guidance and Counseling organized the academic symposium "Promoting Social and Psychological Health in the Post-Pandemic Era - Practices and Applications of Group Counseling and Therapy"
The 2023 Annual Conference and Academic Symposium of the Taiwan Association for Group Counseling and Therapy Research was jointly organized by our university's College of Education, Department of Guidance and Counseling, and the Taiwan Association for Group Counseling and Therapy Research.
The theme was "Promoting Social and Psychological Health in the Post-Pandemic Era - Practices and Applications of Group Counseling and Therapy." The symposium included poster presentations, keynote lectures, and thematic forums.
The response to poster paper submissions was enthusiastic, with 53 poster papers selected for presentation after review. There were also two keynote speeches and one thematic forum. The event attracted nearly a hundred participants from related fields across Taiwan.

8. The College of Education and the Department of Guidance and Counseling organized the "Forum on Emerging Trends in Education: 'Humanistic Counseling and Cultural Healing: An Indigenous Psychology Perspective'"
The event invited Professor Yu An-bang, former Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica, as the main speaker. Professor Wang Chih-hung from the Department of Guidance and Counseling served as the discussant. They engaged in an insightful dialogue on "Cultural Healing from an Indigenous Psychology Perspective."

9. The College of Education and the Department of Special Education organized the "2023 Special Education Forum and Paper Presentation Symposium" centered on "The Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)"
The College of Education and the Department of Special Education held the "2023 Special Education Forum and Paper Presentation Symposium" focused on "The Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)." They invited a former member of the 3rd Executive Yuan's Task Force for Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to participate in the event.

10. The College of Education and the Graduate Institute of Rehabilitation Counseling organized the symposium "Implementing the Concept of Reasonable Accommodation in Vocational Rehabilitation Practice"
The Graduate Institute of Rehabilitation Counseling of our university held a symposium on "Implementing the Concept of Reasonable Accommodation in Vocational Rehabilitation Practice." The event attracted 80 participants, including practitioners, scholars, and graduate students from across the country who are concerned with developments in this field, for exchange and discussion.

11. The Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation organized "The 27th International Symposium on Translation and Interpreting Teaching"
The conference, titled "Translators and Interpreters in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Reconsidering the Profession and its Training Models" was hosted by our university's Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation and the Taiwan Association of Translation and Interpretation Studies. It was co-organized by our university's Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Department of English, and Graduate Institute of Children's English, with sponsorship from the National Science and Technology Council.
The conference discussed six main themes:
(1) Technology and Interpreter Training.
(2) Translation Strategies.
(3) Translation History and Culture.
(4) Quality in Professional Interpreting.
(5) Technology in Translation and Interpreting Teaching.
(6) The Diverse Aspects of Translation.
The event invited two keynote speakers:
(1) Dr. David Sawyer, Director of the School of Language Studies at the Foreign Service Institute, U.S. Department of State.
(2) Dr. Jiun Huh, Associate Professor at the Department of Translation and Interpreting, Ewha Womans University, South Korea.
The conference aimed to help translation and interpreting professionals, educators, and scholars understand future trends and reconsider their professionalism and value in the current AI era.

11. The Department of Mechatronics Engineering organized "The 2023 Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers and the 40th National Academic Symposium, along with the Joint Results Presentation of the Engineering Division's Mechanical and Solid Mechanics, Aerospace and Thermal Fluids, and Energy Sections of the National Science and Technology Council"
This conference served as a joint results presentation for research projects from three sections of the Engineering Division of the National Science and Technology Council: Mechanical and Solid Mechanics, Aerospace and Thermal Fluids (thermal fluids area), and Energy. It showcased the results of research projects funded by the National Science and Technology Council that concluded this year, including:
(1) General research projects.
(2) Bilateral agreement-based international collaborative research projects.
(3) Outstanding young scholar research projects.
(4) New personnel research projects.
(5) Industry-academia collaboration projects.

12. The Global Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Management of Technology organized "Green Navigation ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Inventory Internal Verification - Professional Training Course"
As global net-zero carbon emissions initiatives advance, knowledge of greenhouse gas inventory and verification has become a core competency for businesses. This course, taught by an internationally certified ISO 14064-1 trainer, aimed to disseminate professional knowledge about greenhouse gas management, laying a solid foundation for businesses' green transformation.

13. The Department of Geography organized "Marine and Net-Zero Just Transition Forum: New Blue Perspective - Ocean and Net-Zero from a Just Transition Viewpoint"
This forum was hosted by Associate Professor Lu Pei-wen from the Department of Geography. The event invited Professor Lee Ming-an, Vice President of National Taiwan Ocean University, and Assistant Professor Yang Hsin-ju from the Department of Interior Design at Tainan University of Technology. They shared insights on the conflicts and opportunities faced by coastal communities in Yunlin and Tainan when encountering emerging energy industries.
The forum also invited many local residents, students, professionals, and NGO partners to discuss how local areas are affected by the development of renewable energy in the path towards net-zero emissions, as well as the possibilities for symbiosis and mutual prosperity between green energy industries and coastal communities.
