SDG7.2.2 Upgrade buildings to higher energy efficiency-2021
1. NCUE holds an annual energy-saving and carbon-reduction meeting to evaluate plans for the replacement of existing equipment with energy-saving equivalents the following year. At least NT$5 million is invested annually to replace energy-consuming equipment, which is forecasted to achieve the goal of increasing total energy efficiency by at least 1% per year (the goal is to save 150,000 kWh or more annually).

1.2 Following the policy of utilising renewable energy, we officially activated the solar power generation device installed on the roof of the Jin-De Campus’ sports stadium in 2017. The installed capacity is 467.28 kWp, and the expected annual power generation is 625,945 kWh. This was honoured as a news highlight in Changhua County (the relevant reports and details can be found here: http://epage.ncue.edu.tw/files/14-1000-13227,r9-1.php).

2. Following the national policy, the roofs of all campus buildings shall be installed with photovoltaic panels before end-July 2022. The total installation capacities at the Jin-De and Bao-Shan Campuses are estimated to be 1,888.5 kW and 731.25 kW, respectively. In addition to reducing net loads, photovoltaic panels can supply electricity to meet the demand of buildings in certain scenarios (such as off-peak months). For flow reduction in distribution lines, line loss is reduced by approximately 3%, and energy efficiency is enhanced. Such panels can also block direct sunlight from the roofs. According to research data, 38% of roofs’ thermal energy from direct sunlight is reduced, which lowers roof temperatures by 2.8°C. This improves buildings’ overall temperature environment and reduces the use of air conditioning, thereby increasing energy efficiency.
3. The planning and design specifications (partial) of the roof-mounted photovoltaic panels on the various buildings in the Jin-De and Bao-Shan Campus in 2021–2022 are as follows:
