SDG 17.4.2 Education for SDGs: specific courses on sustainability

NCUE actively promotes the concept of sustainable development through its curriculum, aiming to ensure that all faculty and students understand the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Furthermore, as the second-largest teacher training university in the country, we annually cultivate hundreds of secondary school teachers. By providing courses on sustainable development literacy, we aim to nurture forward-thinking educators who can impart these crucial concepts to the next generation of national pillars during their future teaching careers. This demonstrates our university's significant influence on the overall national society through the promotion of sustainable education.

Our university offered a diverse range of courses related to sustainable development concepts, including: human rights education, career education, indigenous education, gender equality education, environmental education, energy education, multicultural education, marine education, legal education, international education, and other related courses, all of which are closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The classification and statistics of relevant courses for the 2022-2023 academic year showed that 736 courses incorporate UN Sustainable Development Goal topics. These courses have been taken by 17,235 student enrollments, which was twice the total number of students in that academic year (approximately 8,000). Details are shown in Table 1 below.
