7. Professor Yung-ling Lai of the Department of Electrical Engineering held the ‘Industry–Academia Forum of the 2020 National Higher Education Industry–Academia Innovative Practice Competition’.

R&D personnel emphasize both theory and practice, and having strong innovative thinking and high practical ability are two signs of excellent R&D staff. To bridge the gap between learning and application as well as develop high-quality R&D personnel, the National Changhua University of Education and Changhua County Industry–Academia Cooperation Association jointly sponsored the ‘National Higher Education Industry–Academia Innovative Practice Competition’. The evaluation committee included academic professors and industry experts to show the emphasis on both industry and academia; evaluation methods from both the academic and the industry domains were also well recognized. The ‘National Higher Education Industry–Academia Innovative Practice Competition’ was first held in 2016, and the 2021 competition was the sixth edition. With the foundation laid over time, the annual number of participants is high. In 2020, 208 teams from colleges and universities across Taiwan signed up for the competition. The practical themes are divided into three categories: green technology, machinery and automation, and information and electronics. All three themes are in line with the development trends of today’s society and industry to guide students to study and explore these three fields and put what they have learned into practice, so that the finished works can be used by industry. To enhance participating students’ professionalism, increase their opportunities for interactions with advanced professionals in the industry, and allow them to understand the latest industry dynamics and trends, NCUE holds the ‘Industry–Academia Forum’ every year, which can also help industry partners find suitable talent.
