SDG 11.4.6 Pedestrian priority on campus
According to the plan of campus layout in NCUE reviewed and approved on February 14, 2017, NCUE set up pedestrian-only pathways based on the characteristics of each open space. The goal was to prioritize the passage of pedestrians and separate roads for pedestrians and vehicles. The pedestrian-only pathways in key commemorative areas are laid out in straight lines, whereas those in residential areas follow a curved design. All pedestrian pathways were designed with consideration for connections between buildings so that the network of paths fulfills the need to reach key destinations. Permeable materials and construction techniques were selected for the pavement of the plazas and sidewalks. Paths between the flower beds, where is less pedestrian walking through, were constructed with permeable materials to ensure the campus and buildings retain their ecological and green orientation. The layout plan of the pedestrian pathway for the Jinde Campus is shown in Figure 1 and Figures 3-4.
The layout of the pedestrian pathway on the Baoshan Campus is shown in Figure 2 and Figures 5-8. Ring roads are mainly for vehicles, while the remaining roads are exclusively designed for pedestrians.
