SDG 6.3.1 Wastewater treatment
The wastewater treatment procedures for our two campuses at Jinde and Baoshan are as follows:
1. Jinde Campus:
Laboratory waste liquids are cleared and treated using the same method as that used for industrial waste, in accordance with the provisions of the Waste Disposal Act. An application for the cancellation of this campus’ permit for water pollution prevention and control has been approved by the Environmental Protection Bureau of the Changhua County Government. Accordingly, the campus has been declassified from routine monitoring and inspection. The originally installed sewage treatment facilities remain in normal operations.
2. Baoshan Campus:
(1) The campus handles mostly domestic wastewater, and NCUE manages all generated effluent by routing it through a centralized wastewater treatment plant. The treated water is then discharged through outlets approved and regulated by the authorities. The University complies with the regulations outlined in the Water Pollution Control Act (https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=O0040001) and Water Pollution Control Act Enforcement Rules (https://law.moj.gov.tw/ENG/LawClass/LawAll.aspx?pcode=O0040002) in handling and reporting the discharge of wastewater. Every year in July, the University submits a report that includes the water quality testing results for both the raw wastewater and the discharged wastewater for the period from January to June of the current year. Additionally, in the following year, by January, the University submits a report that covers the water quality testing results for both the raw wastewater and the discharged wastewater for the period from July to December of the preceding year.

The treatment status of the sewage treatment facilities on both campuses, the regular inspection and reporting records of the sewage treatment facilities, and various operations of the sewage treatment facilities were all reviewed and tested in 2023, passing the inspections and operating normally. For details, please refer to Appendix 6.3.1A: Report of the Regular Inspection of the Sewage Treatment Facility and Photos of the Measures Taken.
