SDG 17.2.5 Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs

NCUE actively collaborates with non-governmental organizations to conduct cross-functional communication and have signed relevant agreements or jointly implemented plans to achieve sustainable development policy goals. We hereby compile and list information of 7 cases of collaboration and communication between faculty members from various departments of our school and non-governmental organizations in 2022, and provide explanations as follows:

1. Professor Kai-Chao Yao of the Department of Industrial Education and Technology served as a director of the Kenda Cultural and Educational Foundation, assisting in the planning and implementation of scholarship awards to disadvantaged students and the management of primary and secondary school summer science camps and other activities. Figures 1-2 below show the event held.

2. Professor Jie-Shian Yang of the Graduate Institute of Vehicle Engineering, Professor Ming-Fei Chen of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, and Professor Wei-Tzer Huang and Professor Kai-Chao Yao of the Department of Industrial Education and Technology served as the 4th session of vice chairman, director, executive supervisor, and chairperson of the board of supervisors, respectively, of the International Society of Mechatronic Engineering. They assisted in networking with other peers in the field of mechatronics engineering in the industry, government agencies, academia, and research institutes, and are committed to paying back to society and facilitating industry-academia collaboration, talent cultivation, and knowledge creation.

3. Professor Dyi-Cheng Chen of the Department of Industrial Education and Technology served as the chairman of the Taiwan Human Resources Development Association, which was established by Dr. Tze-Li Kang, a former principal of our school. It is hoped that the members of the organization can provide an interdisciplinary communication channel for the development of domestic human resources and integration of resources from the industry, government, and academia to create greater benefits.

4. Professor Mei-Chun Wen, Professor Shu-Fen Lin, Professor Hsiao-Lin Tuan, and Professor Sung-Pei Chien of the Graduate Institute of Science Education served in the 35th and 36th sessions of directors in the Association of Science Education in Taiwan, assisting in the operations of the Association and organizing various workshops to enhance faculty members’ skills and improve teaching. 5. Professor Erh-Tsung Chin of the Graduate Institute of Science Education served as a director in the 8th session of the board of the Taiwan Association for Mathematics Education, participating in the meetings of directors and supervisors to organize annual activities of the Association to promote math education in Taiwan. 6. Professor Yi-Nung Chung of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering served as the chairperson in competitions held by the Changhua Industry and Academia Improvement Association, responsible for organizing competitions of industry-academia innovation practices for colleges and universities nationwide.

7. Professor Pei-Hsuan Wei of the Department of Public Affairs and Civic Education served as the vice president of the Taiwan Association for Human Rights to assist in the planning and implementation of work related to human rights issues.
