SDG 17.2.3 International collaboration data gathering for SDG

NCUE participates in international collaboration efforts by conducting international research and organizing international seminars, further achieving the policy goal of international sustainable development.  Last year, the University compiled 5 cases of faculty members’ participation in international collaboration projects in 2021. This year, we compiled 7 cases of international collaboration projects handled by our school in 2022. The cases are explained as follows:

1. The Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation organized the 27th International Academic Symposium on Interpretation and Translation Teaching. The symposium invited two top international scholars in the field of interpretation and translation. Professor David Sawyer of the University of Maryland, USA, and Professor Jiun Huh of Ewha Womans University of South Korea served as keynote speakers. Professor David Sawyer has written extensively, and he is a subject matter expert on the design and evaluation of interpreter and translator training courses. Professor Jiun Huh has published many academic papers related to the training of interpreters and translators. They both delivered rich content in their keynote presentations. Figures 1-2 below show the event held.

2. The Graduate Institute of Science Education of National Changhua University of Education organized the 37th ASET in 2021. The central theme of the event was the “interdisciplinary learning and teacher training in science education”, which covered STEM/STEAM education, teaching and learning for ability development, literacy-based evaluation, pre-service teacher training and professional growth of in-service teachers, digital learning environment, smart learning, and other key issues both at home and abroad. The abovementioned topics, such as STEM/STEAM education, literacy-based evaluation, etc., all adhere to Curriculum Guidelines of 12-Year Basic Education, emphasizing the concept of interdisciplinary core competencies as the main theme of curriculum development. It is believed that through the event, the participating researchers and teachers can jointly develop and share more curriculum modules that are helpful in developing students’ core competencies. The international exchanges can also help domestic teachers become more familiar with the design of literacy-based evaluation. Figure 3 below shows the event held.

Presentations and sharing of cases in Taiwan and Japan clarified the unique characteristics and commonalities of each place. The presentations carried out in the seminar attempted to construct a theoretical framework and model for future relevant academic research, and it is hoped that the event can contribute to the SMEs and the value co-creation networks of each region. The agenda of the Taiwan-Japan online international seminar is shown in Figure 5 below.
