SDG 11.4.6 Pedestrian priority on campus

According to the overall campus layout reviewed and approved on February 14, 2017, the University set up pedestrian-only paths depending on the characteristics of each open space. The goal was to prioritize the passage of pedestrians and separate roads for pedestrians and automobiles. The pedestrian-only paths around key monuments mostly form straight lines, whereas those in front of living areas are curvier. All pedestrian trails are designed with consideration of connections between buildings so that the network of the paths fulfills the need to reach key destinations. Materials and construction methods with better water permeability were selected for the pavement of the plazas and sidewalks. Paths between the flower beds, where there is less pedestrian traffic, are constructed with permeable materials to ensure the campus and buildings retain their ecological and green orientation. The pedestrian pathway planning for the Jinde Campus is structured as shown in Figure 1 and Figures 3-4.

The design of pedestrian flow on the Baoshan Campus is as shown in Figure 2 and Figures 5-8. Automobiles mainly use the ring roads, and the remaining roads are exclusively designed for pedestrians.
